While the healthcare reform debate continues in Washington as Congress reconvenes for the fall session, two very different legislative bills with the same title, The Credit Card Fair Fee Act of 2009 (H.R. 2695 and S. 1212), wait in the queue to be heard, their sponsors hope, sometime before Congress adjourns later this year. Introduced in June of this year, the bills seek to reduce merchants’ costs of card payment acceptance.
