APRIL 21, 2005 — 11:00am EST (1 hour)
Tim Sloane, Director, Debit Advisory Service

This presentation will identify the level of actual spending on prepaid products for 2004 across all prepaid market segments, including Cash Cards, Payroll Cards, Benefits Cards, Federal and State agency instruments, Transit, Store Gift Cards and Prepaid Malls.  In addition, the presentation will address the total potential market available, looking at a penetration rate for all of these markets.

Market size and opportunity are, however, only the starting point.  The presentation will also present an important tool for evaluating competitive products and aligning resources for new prepaid products.  The Value Chain Map helps graphically identify the differences between competitive products and between a suppliers multiple go-to-market models.  The benefit of the Value Chain Map will be highlighted by using it to expose the impact of horizontal integration in the prepaid go-to-market model and why this suggests there will be a battle in the near future for control of distribution channels.

The opportunities that will be identified in this presentation will be tempered with an important review of current regulatory issues that have slowed the development of some markets and raises the risks involved for early adaptors, especially when deploying Open Prepaid Cards through traditional merchants.
