Merchant Cash Advance: The Pros and Cons of Outsourcing


The few merchant acquirers who have implemented in-house cash advance and business finance operations have had some success with this important value-added service through the recession, but many more, including the largest players in the merchant services space, have chosen to outsource merchant receivable factoring to third-party providers. Still others do not offer any merchant funding solutions, turning a blind eye toward the independent MCA operators who serve their merchants. Is it time to start looking at MCA as an extension of payment acquirers’ core business?
