Roles and Responsibilities

Brien Henderson is Vice President and Managing Director of Sales at Mercator Advisory Group. As an accomplished senior executive and veteran of the financial services industry, he brings more than three decades of expertise to his sales leadership role. Brien has vast experience analyzing, marketing, managing, and selling sophisticated industry research and consulting services as well as retail banking software in both international and U.S. markets.


Previous Experience

Prior to joining Mercator, Brien was the chief marketing officer for KIVA Group, a global provider of unified customer interaction and experience management software that helps financial institutions integrate and optimize their multiple delivery channels to achieve sales success through exceptional service. Prior to KIVA, Brien was partner and managing director of sales and marketing for TABB Group, a New York City-based financial services advisory firm. In this role, he was responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, management, and execution for global sales, client services, and marketing for both TABB Group and TabbFORUM, a crowd-sourced website “where the capital markets speak.” Previously, Brien served for more than five years as group vice president for all of IDC Research’s industry-specific worldwide sales efforts after a successful five-year tenure as vice president of IDC’s Financial Insights division. Before that time, Brien was a member of the senior management team and head of sales and marketing at financial services research and advisory firm TowerGroup (now CEB Gartner). He joined TowerGroup in its infancy in 1995 and helped to orchestrate its sale at the end of 1999.

Brien’s professional background includes sales management positions at Skillsoft Corporation, a leading e-Learning vendor, where he hired and led the Northeast U.S. sales team pre-IPO and after a successful secondary offering. He began his career in financial services software at NSS Corporation, where he held product marketing and sales positions, helping to develop and grow the IBM and HP partnerships as well as many bank client relationships in the U.S. and throughout the EMEA region.


Brien earned an A.B. from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME and an M.A. from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
