The ISIS Mobile Payments JV: NFC's Breakout Opportunity May Be Balkan Gardens
Posted:
November 29, 2010
Author:
Mercator Research
Abstract:
The Isis mobile payments joint venture could drive broad NFC deployment. But, if mobile operators run true to form with sacrifices to their great god ARPU (average revenue per user) as their only strategy, then NFC access will be expensive and software developers of mobile wallet software, banking security applications, mobile merchandising and customer experience-based apps will be forced to choose sides. NFC's first years could be limited to Balkan Garden world, where competitors shoot at one another from within their walled NFC gardens.
