Debit Card Usage Fees and Customer Satisfaction

In an attempt to replace revenue lost from enacting the Durbin Amendment, several big banks have announced new monthly fees for customers making purchases with their debit cards. These banks must balance revenue goals with the potential for reputational risk, and the possibility of alienating many of the customers they will soon covet.
