Visa DPS and Mastercard IPS: A Discussion with the Networks' Debit Processing Solution Business Leaders

As an industry leading solution, Visa DPS has spent the past 14 years successfully delivering account management and processing solutions to their debit card issuers. As MasterCard throws down the competitive gauntlet in the U.S. debit market, they have also entered the debit processing market with a new solution, launching Integrated Processing Solution in 2008. In this Note, we share their product positioning and strategies based on our interviews with executives of both organizations. In closing, we offer our opinions as to how debit processing solutions are evolving in a highly pressurized and competitive market.
