Roles and Responsibilities Aaron is Vice President of Research Operations. Aaron brings an extensive background in payments industry research and strategic development and works across Mercator’s teams to enhance and augment Mercator’s published works and consulting projects.
Previous ExperiencePreviously, Aaron was the Senior Vice President of Global Payment Strategy for Fidelity National Information Services, where he led the development of a market-focused payments strategy that transformed the internal strategic product investment process as well as driving the acquisitions of Clear2Pay and SunGard. He also led strategy in the areas of tokenization, rewards, and blockchain.Aaron served for twelve years in increasingly senior roles at IDC Financial Insights, where he founded and led the Global Payment Strategies research service. While there, he pioneered research in open payments APIs, enterprise payments, rewards and offers, digital wallets, and B2B payments. He also was a key participant in the development of innovative new research products, including the IDC MarketScape vendor assessment, the Banking IT Spending Guide, and the Banking Solution Market Share Guide. Aaron developed the first enterprise payments framework to achieve widespread adoption in the payments industry.EducationAaron holds a master of business administration degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management with a concentration in the strategic use of information technology, and a bachelor’s degree in political science, also from MIT.
