Abstract: Payment technologies come and go with more than a few perishing from the lack of value or the ability of the payment industry's immune system to reject ideas that threaten the status quo. But a number of technologies are technically in place or may be in the not too distant future that merit real consideration. While merchant pain and opportunity may vary, the range of tools that exists gives the merchant - or the FI and processor - new options to manage either. This document briefly reviews important emerging payments technologies from an implementation priority standpoint and suggests their relative order of priority.
